Milan Rastislav Štefánik was a Slovak politician, diplomat, and astronomer. During World War I, he served as a General in the French Army and, at the same time, as the Czechoslovak Minister of War. As one of the leading members of the Czechoslovak National Council (i.e. resistance government), he contributed decisively to the cause of Czechoslovak sovereignty. (The status of Czech– and Slovak-populated territories, among others, was in question until shortly before the disintegration of Austria-Hungary in 1918.)
Jan Jiskra z Brandýsa was a Czech strategist and mercenary soldier
Jan Jiskra came from the Moravian branch of the noble family Páni z Brandýsa (Lords of Brandýs), he was possibly a son of Alšík z Brandýsa.
Jiskra spent his youth in Bohemia and partially also in Italy, where he – according to several sources – attended the battles of the Republic of Venice. In the Czech lands he became familiar with the Hussite war strategies. Following the Battle of Lipany Jiskra, together with other Hussite soldiers, joined the army of the Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg and fought with Turkish troops in the region of Belgrade.
I hugged them tonight
kissed each one
and closed my eyes
filled with the bitter tears
these three things.
This cross you touched so many times
with your gentle beautiful fingers
by saying the silent prayers
by talking to God.
This white chess Queen was your guard
she protected your King and your heart.
This silent white Queen
with the power to keep you alive.
These uncountable words set in the Bible.
These words of God
full of faith, forgiveness and love
understanding and power.
This precious book of wisdom
opening your heart to our Lord.
Only these three things
please do place on my chest
when I will close my tired eyes
one silent day for good.

***I Felt so weak and bad because of my sins
but Our Lord have sent His Son to us
His Road was painful and hard
but God stand always beside Him
now I follow His words
the Voice of my heart
the Endless love of our God
He Never fails and His will will be done
and Each of us can feel His love
His Son was sent and Jesus suffered for us
His Son as the greatest sacrifice***
